In its ongoing effort to support homeowner retention, Bank of America has announced $145,000 in grants to six St. Louis-area nonprofits to develop and provide innovative solutions for local housing issues.
Among the 2012 recipients is the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, which has been awarded $25,000 to support counseling staff and program operations that strengthen the basic housing program.

By employing a multi-faceted approach that will begin with the rental community, the Urban League actively promotes homeownership as the first step to asset building. With Bank of America’s support, the St. Louis Urban League will execute an educational series that stresses the importance of fair housing practices and includes regular financial literacy classes and homeowner preservation services to ensure individuals are prepared to become, and stay, homeowners.

- Rebuilding Together St. Louis
- Habitat for Humanity St. Louis
In total, these grants will provide homeownership counseling services to more than 600 local St. Louis residents, as well as foreclosure prevention/loss mitigation and financial management and asset building services to nearly 200 local residents.
The philanthropic investments are part of Bank of America’s integrated approach to addressing community challenges. Nationwide, the Bank has awarded $22 million in grants to nonprofits that revitalize neighborhoods and help working families find and keep suitable homes.
