Enroll Now For 2012 Citizen Police Academy

The following information was provided by the Town and Country Police Department. 

The will again join Creve Coeur, Des Peres, Frontenac, and the Olivette Police Departments to present the West County Multi-Jurisdictional Citizens Police Academy.

The Academy will give citizens the opportunity to learn about law enforcement through practical training and exercises.

The Citizens Police Academy is to promote understanding between residents and their police officers regarding their respective goals. By promoting this relationship, citizens and law enforcement can work together to make the community a safer place to live. 

Topics covered in the Academy will include Constitutional and Criminal Law, the “Use of Force”, a Taser demonstration, criminal investigations, traffic safety, pursuits, D.W.I. Enforcements, patrol tactics, victim/witness responses to criminal activity, 911 dispatch operations, and much more.

Participants will have the opportunity to fire a department issued firearm under the close supervision of a Firearms Instructor. Participants will also experience real life, role play scenarios. 

The Citizens Police Academy will begin on March 6th from 7:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. and will meet on Tuesdays for nine weeks with a graduation ceremony on May 1st.

The Academy is open to all residents, as well as non residents providing that space is available, who are 21 years of age or older.

The Citizens Police Academy is free of charge.
