Clayton Road Construction: Painting and Striping Planned This Week

Check in on Clayton Road's reconstruction progress in Town and Country and see what's planned for this week.

With a few more spots for paving crews to attend to, the last week of repaving was "hectic" but ended up going "smoothly," according to Town and Country Public Works Director Craig Wilde.

Wilde said painting and striping should also begin this week.

Construction has been a continued focus on phases two and three of the Clayton Road Resurfacing and Pedestrian Enhancement Project, encompassing Oak Springs to Bopp Road and the crossing at Highway 141.

The following is an email update from Wilde:

It’s been a hectic week. The paving operations went smoothly and I am pleased with the end product. On Monday, the paving crews will be back to complete the remainder of the connections for the side streets along with some other smaller areas which still need to be addressed.

The fence contractor is still working on the installation of the fencing over 270.  There were some unforeseen issues with the application of the fence on the south wall. We are working through these and progress is being made. It is anticipated that the restriping will occur Wednesday/Thursday/Friday of next week also. We need to give the pavement about a week to cure before applying the permanent striping. If we do not, the paint which is applied will become discolored and lose its reflectivity.

As I have mentioned before, we are working up the punch list for the project. There are already a large number of items which we are working to address, but I welcome all feedback regarding any issues (large or small) that you may see. We are currently planning for a ribbon cutting on August 22. Please keep this in mind and I will send more details as they develop. Thanks again for your patience, support and help during this process. The finish line is in sight!
