Clayton Road Project Moving Full Steam Ahead in Town and Country

Phase one of the Clayton Road Resurfacing and Pedestrian Enhancements Project is complete and the City of Town and Country is now moving forward with the next two phases. Phase two, which starts east of Topping Road and extends east to Bopp Road has already begun. Phase three is the pedestrian walkway that will be built along Clayton Road over Route 141. Town and Country Department of Public Works Director Craig Wilde said residents will see activity increasing in the work areas in coming weeks. He's advising drivers to use caution and expect delays in these work zones. 

Wilde recently released the following email update on the Clayton Road project.

We are in process of getting the construction contracts approved for the next two phases (Phase II –  Oaks Spring Lane to Bopp Road and Phase III – Crossing of HWY 141) of the Clayton Road Project.  Gershenson Construction is tasked with the efforts on Phase II while JM Marschuetz Construction will be completing Phase III.  Both projects are slated for completion by the end of June. 

As you could see, starting this past November, the preliminary site work for Phase II began with the replacement of an outdated water main between Oak Springs Lane and Interstate 270. This work continues with the replacement and relocation of sections of water main between Ballas Road and Bopp Road.  These combined with the relocation of electrical lines have provided a number of challenges even before the “brick and mortar” work can begin.  Now that this work is underway and the contractors have been selected, we can start in earnest on the improvements themselves.

You should see the level of activity on site ramping up over the coming weeks.  Please be cautious when travelling through the work zone and we ask you in advance for your patience.  Delays and inconvenience are a part of any project of this magnitude. I also ask you to contact me if you encounter any issues which are out of the ordinary.  Please feel free to forward this on to anyone you may believe is interested in receiving information regarding the project.   

When completed, the trail will run the length of the city, from Town and Country Crossing in the west to the city’s eastern edge at Bopp Road.
