Oh, my God, Justin Tatum was just named CBC’s next basketball coach. What shocking news. As if the whole world didn’t know this was wired and that all they had to do was can 17-year dedicated veteran coach Bobby McCormack and hire one of his disciples.

The good Brothers at CBC did that and more. What a revelation.

The win-at-all-cost agenda has landed at the school in Town and Country.

The mentality of hiring and firing on the spot has now gone from the pros to college to the prep ranks.

Win, brother or you are thrown out like the baby with the bathwater. This sucks.

Bobby McCormack did so many good things for CBC. He built a dynamite summer camping program. He taught boys how to behave and how to act like men. Seems the last few years, things had not gone so well.

I’ve been told that these days, there just aren’t enough basketballs to go around for the ego-centric players, or for that matter, their parents.

These kids are trying to showcase themselves for the NBA at age 15 and 16. Really silly stuff.

I remember a long time coach Bob Nelson at Forest Park Community College asking his players to raise their hand if they thought they were ticketed for the NBA. All the hands went up.

Nelson said: "Fellas, you’d better study something, because none of you are going to the NBA." He was spot on right.

There just seems to be a level of uncertainty at CBC these days. The principal, Mike England, was canned and then their popular and dedicated basketball coach went next.

Athletic directors have been changing chairs by the year. What’s going on?

Back in the olden golden days, D.C. Wilcut ran the basketball program at CBC with an iron fist. He didn’t get fired if he had a so-so season. They named a gym after him, and he’s a living institution.

But no more on this campus.

What if Tatum loses the first five games of the year? Like the NBA, is he going to be replaced? I think not.

Brothers, it’s your school—do with it what you want.

But don’t bad mouth a guy like Bobby McCormack.

It wasn’t the CBC summer camp; it was the Bobby McCormack camp. He made that place a beehive of popularity. He did so much for your school. And now, he’s out of work and unemployed.

Bobby is a great guy and a great coach. He will be back sooner than you think.

Maybe the Cadets will do some introspection concerning their firing policies?
