Long Time U CIty High School Teacher Dies

On Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, Leadora Extein, wife of the late Alvin M. Extein, died in Boca Raton, Fla. Lee was a lifelong resident of St. Louis until moving to Boca Raton in 2005.

She is survived by her son Irl Extein, a psychiatrist in Boca Raton, and daughter-in-law, Barbara; her son Mark Extein, an attorney in Washington, D.C., and daughter-in-law, Lynn; as well as six grandchildren: Melissa, Jason, Andrew, Seth, Brian, and Jonathan Extein.

She was born in New York in 1923, the daughter of Marie and Isadore Sparberg. She graduated first in her class from Soldan High School and graduated from Phi Beta Kappa.

Extein served as a beloved math teacher for many years at .
