SEDALIA, Mo. — State Treasurer Clint Zweifel holds $700 million in Unclaimed Property that belongs to 4.3 million account owners, and is asking 2012 Missouri State Fair attendees to see if any of it could be theirs.
Members of Treasurer Zweifel’s Unclaimed Property team will be at the fair each day starting Thursday, Aug. 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Mathewson Exhibition Center to help Missourians find and claim their property.
“Making it easier for Missourians to search for their Unclaimed Property has been one of my goals since day one and having my staff at the State Fair, where thousands of Missourians can search for property, file claims and ask questions, just makes sense,” Zweifel said. “I have cut wait times in half, returned $124 million since 2009, and have now returned 35 percent of all property ever returned since the program was started. One in 10 Missourians has Unclaimed Property, and the average claim is $300. It is definitely worth a few minutes of your time to stop by.”
