Candidates for City Council must gather the signatures of at least 50 voters (and not more than 75) registered in the ward where they are running, and no voter can sign more than one petition for the same office.
Petitions are available in room 8 on the second floor of City Hall, located at 6801 Delmar Blvd. The window for filing opened Dec. 12 and closes Jan. 16. There is a $50 filing fee.
First-day filers will be placed on the ballot in the order their names are drawn in a lottery, while subsequent filers will be placed on the ballot in the order their nominations are submitted.
