Fire Damaged House of India to Reopen March 22
The University City restaurant was damaged in a fire this week.
A sign on the door of fire-damaged House of India reports that the restaurant plans to reopen on Friday, March 22. Patrons should check the House of India web site for updates on the reopening.
The University City favorite was damaged in the early morning hours of Friday, March 15, when fire broke out in the kitchen.Β
Fox 2Β reports theΒ fire started around 12:15 a.m. at the restaurant at Delmar Blvd. and Berick Drive.

TheΒ University City fire departmentΒ got a call that smoke was coming from the roof. Crews found the fire in the kitchen. They were able to keep the fire to the kitchen and put it out in less than 45 minutes.

The restaurant has been open for more than 20 years.
The RFT's Gut Check Blog reports this isn't the first time the restaurant shut down due to kitchen fire.Β The restaurant closed in July 2007 after a fire in its kitchen.Β It reopened about two months later.
