Five Things: School District, Police to Host Back to School Night

For the second year in a row, the School District of University City and the University City Police Department are joining forces to host a Back-to-School Rally and National Night Out celebration.

Here are five things you need to know about the event. 

1. The event will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, on the campus of the Ronald E. McNair Administration Building, located at 8136 Groby Road.
2. Children can get a head start on school with free backpacks and school supplies.
3. Entertainment includes a performance stage, petting zoo, free food and drinks, face painting and music.haircuts, 
4. There will also be health screenings, hands-on educational activities, information about crime and drug prevention.
   
5. The first day of school is Tuesday, Aug. 20.
