Get Out: Community Resource Sale, Balloon Race

The Great Forest Park Balloon Race is Saturday.

Looking for something to do on this beautiful almost-Fall weekend? There are tons of events in and around  to keep you entertained.

Friday, Sept. 14

  • Ruby Bridges — The Jazz Band, under the direction of Stan Coleman, will play from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. at a reception in Holmes Lounge for Ruby Bridges. Bridges, the first African-American to attend an all-white school, is the guest speaker for the John. B. Ervin Scholars Program 25th Anniversary Assembly Series. Bridges will give an opening address in Graham Chapel at 4 p.m., to be followed by a reception in Holmes Lounge, both on the Danforth Campus of . During the reception, Bridges will be selling and signing copies of her autobiography.

  • — The City of University City and will host the Annual Community Resource Fair and Outdoor Yard Sale at the Heman Park Swimming Pool parking lot. The event is free and open to the public. It begins at 8 a.m.
  • 49th Annual Moonlight Ramble — Meet between 9-11:45 p.m. The ride stards at midnight at the corner of 8th & Cerre Street just south of Busch Stadium & Ball Park Village. All ages are welcome to participate, but riders under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Food Summit at the Missouri History Museum — Saturday and Sunday. A two-day summit focused on issues of food access, food justice, and community resources, featuring a keynote presentation on food deserts by actor/activist Wendell Pierce (September 15 only).
