Joe Edwards: Fundraising Efforts Continue for Loop Trolley
The Loop Trolley is slated to open in mid-2014.

The Loop Trolley project is on track,Β Joe Edwards told a crowd of people at "Meet Me in St. Louis on a Trolley, Streetcar or Bus Rapid Transit,β a transit forum Thursday.
According to the St. Louis Beacon, Edwards said the project is still on track to begin work this fall, despite the loss of a $1 million pledge last year from the Missouri History Museum.Β
βAny time you lose that kind of money on a project, itβs frustrating," Edwards told The Beacon. "But itβs not the end of the world. We had enough contingency built in.β

The Loop Trolley Transportation Development District (TDD) accepted a $24,990,000 grant from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) on Sept. 5, 2012.
This grant is part of the FTAβs Section 5309 funds for exempt discretionary grants for Urban Circulator Systems that support the Department of Transportation Livability Initiative.
The Loop Trolley will be a 2.2-mile fixed track trolley line from theΒ Missouri History MuseumΒ in Forest Park to theΒ University City Public Library. The double trackΒ line through University City goes to single track at Kingsland and will stub in front of the library.
