Man Charged in U City Burglary on Mount Olive

University City Police said the Overland man stole a rifle, TV, two knives and collectible coins.

An Overland man was accused of breaking into a University City home between March 14 and March 18 and stealing several items.

John Hamby, 27, of the 2300 block of Hood Avenue in Overland, was charged Saturday with second-degree burglary, stealing a firearm and felony theft.

University City Police said Hamby entered a home in the 1200 block of Mount Olive Avenue in U City and stole a rifle, a Sony television, two knives and collectible coins.

A witness identified Hamby’s car, according to court documents.

Hamby is being held in St. Louis County Justice Center. Bail was set at $40,000.
