Missouri Tax Free Weekend: 5 Things to Know
Helpful information if you are buying school supplies, clothing or electronics as the kids head back to school.

Just a reminder for back to school shipping:Β Missouri's back to school sales tax holidayΒ is next month.
Just saw these signsΒ on a store and it was a great reminder!
Here are five pieces of information on theΒ Missouri Department of Revenue's websiteΒ that might help if you plan to buy back-to-school items for the upcoming school year.
- The sales tax holiday in Missouri isΒ Friday, Aug. 2 - Sunday, Aug. 4.
- Some items, including clothing, school supplies and computers are exempt from sales tax for this time period.Β
- You can find aΒ list of cities hereΒ that have opted out of participating in the tax-free weekend. Ladue and Frontenac are onΒ this list. This means state sales tax will still be waved at stores, butΒ city sales tax will still be collected.
- St. Louis County is participating in the sales tax holiday. Find countiesΒ which opted out here.
- The sales tax exemption is limited to:
- ClothingΒ β any article having a taxable value of $100 or less
- School suppliesΒ β not to exceed $50 per purchase
- Computer softwareΒ β taxable value of $350 or less
- Personal computersΒ β not to exceed $3,500
- Computer peripheral devicesΒ β not to exceed $3,500
