NY Post Likes Nico and Seoul Taco, Mission Taco Reveals Menu
A look at what's going on in the restaurant world in University City and the Delmar Loop.
Mission Taco Joint is planning to open in the Delmar Loop in late February.Β
Sauce Magazine has a preview of the draft menu. Quoting from Sauce:
The tightly focused menu begins with a handful of shared appetizers. Highlights include crabΒ taquitosΒ as well as roasted mushrooms with huitlachoche, goat cheese and arugula presented in a fried corn masa base called aΒ huarache. A la carte tacos include popular choices such as baja fish andΒ carne asada, but Mission gets creative with quite a few others, such as the chile-roasted duck with crisp pork belly and avocado serrano sauce.

The menu also beckons for vegetarians with options like a roasted cactus taco or one featuring the local product Mofu tofu. The restaurant will feature giant Mission-style burritos wrapped in house-made tortillas, plusΒ tortasΒ served onΒ teleraΒ rolls from Dianaβs Bakery. Diners looking for a square meal can round things out with side dishes like fire-grilled vegetable quinoa and chayoteΒ calabacitas.
New York Post Loves the Loop

The New York Post recently wrote about the culinary revolution taking place in St. Louis. In "Beyond the BBQ in St. Louis: A food and drinks scene emerges in the land of Budweiser," the Post gives some serious love to Nico and Seoul Taco.
Quoting from the Post:
Mediterranean restaurantΒ Nico opened about a year ago in the heart of the funky University City neighborhood, across the street from the storied Blueberry Hill bar and restaurant, where Chuck Berry still makes an occasional appearance. Not content to coast on proximity to fame, Nico deftly hop-scotches through the flavors of France, Italy and Morocco β a bouillabaisse here, a lamb burger there.
Patio seating and a strong cocktail program round out the offerings β and explain why Nicoβs has already been named a reader favorite by the local alt-weekly.
Also inΒ University City is the new brick-and-mortar location ofΒ Seoul Taco. Co-owner David Choi got his culinary start in a food truck β who doesnβt these days? β but heβs now slinging bulgogi from a storefront a block away from Nico.
