Smash: Make a Musical to Be Performed Tonight

Guys and Dolls Jr is being performed by students at Brittany Woods Middle School,

Students atΒ Β will performΒ Guys and Dolls Jr.Β on May 3 and 4 at 7 p.m. and on May 5 at 2 p.m. in the Little Theater at Brittany Woods Middle School.

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased from any cast member or through the Brittany Woods Middle School office.Β 

Brittany Woods is one ofΒ 20 schools nationwideΒ to be selected to participate inΒ NBC’s SMASH Make a MusicalΒ Project. The program provides a free Broadway Junior ShowKit with rights to perform a musical, two master classes with teachers from iTheatrics New York, a local project advisor, stipends for two teachers to direct the musical, and a technical theater fund.

β€œFrom the very beginning when they worked with the iTheatrics staff in February, a palpable energy was released,” said Wu Bakeman, Brittany Woods teacher and musical director for the show. β€œIt's as if the students were waiting for something exactly like this to come alongβ€”something energizing which gives them a chance to express themselves.”
