U. City Officials Hold Second Neighborhood TIF Meeting: Video

See photos and video from the meeting here.

UNIVERSITY CITY, MO β€” University City officials held the second of two neighborhood meetings Friday night at the Heman Park Community Center. The purpose was to ask residents how they would like to spend a promised $15 million windfall the city hopes will come from a proposed taxpayer-funded development at Olive Boulevard and Interstate 170. Residents were divided into small groups by ward and asked to rank possible uses for the money from five pre-chosen categories.

At this point, you probably know how it played out. Some citizens were unwavering in their support for the planned development, some staunchly against. Many others just wanted to know how the project with affect them.

There were several contentious back-and-forths between residents and city staff, and between residents themselves. Some residents asked for the city's promises in writing in the form of a legally-binding Community Benefits Agreement. The city manager, however, said a CBA is unlikely to happen.
