U City Schools Release 2012-13 Calendar

The has approved the district calendar for the 2012-13 school year. The calendar applies to all district schools.

The district has 174 planned days of student contact and teachers are under contract for 188.5 days with three vacation days. The first day of school is Aug. 22 for all students except freshman, who begin Aug. 17.

Parent-teacher conferences will be held Nov. 1-2 and March 28-29.

The schedule is as follows:

• 4 — Schools & Offices closed for Independence Day holiday 
• 23 — First Day of work for 11 month employees

August

• 7-9 — New Teacher Orientation
• 14 — Opening Day ceremony (All staff) and building-level meetings
• 15 — Pre K-12 Professional Development
• 16 — Schools and offices open
• 17 — Schools and offices open
• 17 — First day of school for UCHS Freshmen Only
• 20 — Schools and offices open  
• 21 — Schools and offices open, Teacher Work Day 
• 22 — First day of school for all students

September

• 3 — Schools and offices closed for Labor Day holiday 
• 21 — Schools closed for District professional development

October

• 8 — First Quarter ends 
• 19 — Schools closed for District professional development 
• 22 — Second Quarter begins 
• 23 — First Quarter grades are submitted

November

• 1 — Schools closed and offices open; Parent/Teacher Conferences (12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.)
• 2 — Schools closed and offices open; Parent/Teacher Conferences (8 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.)
• 6 — Schools closed and offices open 
• 21 — Schools closed and offices open 
• 22-23 Schools and offices closed for Thanksgiving holiday

December

• 19 — Early Release for 9-12 High School exams
• 20 — Early Release for PreK-8 Record Day; Early Release for 9-12 High School Exams; 2nd Quarter ends

• 21-31 — Schools closed for Winter Break 
• 24-26 and 31 — Offices closed for Winter Break

January

February

March

• 14 — 3rd Quarter ends

• 25 — Classes resume; 4th Quarter begins
• 26 — Third Quarter grades are submitted
