Update: Gas Leak Fire Still Burning Near Delmar

The leak was reported around 2 p.m.

A gas leak near  in St. Louis that began around 2 p.m. is still raging at 5:15 p.m. on Clara near Delmar Blvd. The St. Louis Fire Department reports it will take at least another hour before the flames are contained. 

Thirty-five firefighters and crews from Laclede Gas are working to contain the blast. Trenches are being dug to clamp the two gas lines still running to the area.

According to the Post-Dispatch, firefighters from St. Louis and  responded shortly before 3 p.m. on Thursday to a gas leak and fire in the 5600 block of Enright Avenue.

St. Luke's Plaza Apartments have been evacuated while crews lay down lines to control the situation. The fire is across the street from the complex.
