Update: Two Shot, Killed Monday in University City

University City police report two people were shot Monday afternoon at Sutter and Bartmer Industrial Drive.

University City PoliceΒ report that two people were shot and killed Monday in University City.

According to a news release from Capt. Michael Ransom, officers responded to Sutter Ave. and Bartmer Industrial Drive around 2:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, on a report of two people who had been shot.Β 

Officers discovered a woman, age 54, and a man, age 23, who had both been shot. The victims were taken to an area hospital where they died of their injuries.

In a later release, Ransom reported that the two were approached or met up with a man before the shooting, who was seen running away. At this time, police do not know if the victims knew the man.

Police also recovered a substantial amount of what is believed to be narcotics.

Mayor Shelley Welsch said she plans to ask the city council at its Nov. 13 meeting to form a task force to investigate the rash of violent crime U City has experienced this year.
