U City's Merland Sampler Dies of Heat-Related Causes
The 93 year old is the area's 14th heat-related death this summer.

A 93-year-old  woman has been confirmed as the second heat-related death in St. Louis County this summer, according to the St. Louis County medical examiner.
The medical examiner Tuesday.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch has identified the woman as Merland Sampler of the 8100 block of Canton Avenue.

The medical examiner’s office reported that the victim’s body temperature was 103 degrees and the outdoor temperature was 104 when she was discovered on Saturday, June 7. The window air conditioner in the brick home was working properly but was set at 95 degrees.
The victim lived alone but was cared for by relatives, according to the medical examiner’s office.
