EVANSVILLE, IN — On Saturday, Oct. 22, Nick Cress of Wentzville joined millions of Americans by volunteering for Make A Difference Day, the nation's largest day of community service.
Cress, who is majoring in Global Business, was among approximately 400 University of Evansville students who spent the day volunteering at 25 nonprofit organizations around Evansville. Tasks included beautification and landscaping, painting, and working with children, and sites included parks and community centers.
"By participating in Make A Difference Day, Nick Cress showed that giving back to the community is part of the culture at the University of Evansville," said Geoff Edwards, director of UE's Center for Student Engagement. "Last year, UE students contributed nearly 17,000 hours of service, and I'm proud of students such as Nick for their dedication to improving the community they call home during their college years."
