Holt, Timberland Hockey Clubs Ready for Playoffs
Both teams competing in the Mid States Club Hockey Association's Wickenheiser Cup.
The Mid-States hockey playoffs kick off this week and the Indians figure to be in the hunt for a second-straight Wickenheiser Cup championship.
No. 8-seeded will take on No. 9 Northwest High School in a best-of-two series—a split would be decided by a sudden-death overtime—that begins Friday night at Affton Ice Arena.
The Indians are looking to bounce back from a four-game losing streak that ended their season. During that span, Holt was outscored 24-10.

Still, Holt's high-energy offense is one of the best in the league. The Indians' 116 goals on the season is tied for third and trails only Westminister and Pattonville—two squads that are ranked No. 5 and No. 15, repspectively, in the Challenge Cup.
Leading the way for Holt is a pair of 36 goal-scorers in senior forwards Austin Flynn and Cory Kettler. Both of them are tied for second in scoring throughout the league, looking up to just M. Tate Matheny of Westminister, who has 51 goals on the season.

Flynn, who scored a goal and had a game-winning assist in —also has 27 assists and 63 points, making him the second most dangerous offensive weapon in the league.
Kettler, not to be outdone, has 24 assists and 60 points, a mark good enough for third best in Mid-States.
The Indians play Northwest Friday at 9:45 p.m. at Affton Ice Arena. Holt is 1-0 on the site this season—a dominating 18-5 win over Clayton in the team's first game of the season.
Game 2 is slated for Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. at .
Should the Indians advance, they will likely play top-seeded Lutheran South.

Meanwhile, across town, the No. 12-seeded Wolves will open their playoff schedule against No. 5 Seckman.
Timberland comes into the playoffs having lost three of their last four games.
Brendan Schrader, a 30 goal-scorer, tops the roster in pucks in the net.
The Wolves will host Seckman at 9 p.m. on Friday at Lindenwood Ice Arean, where Timberland is 8-5 this season. Game 2 is slated for 9:15 p.m. on Saturday at the South County Ice Arena.
