Sam's Club Construction to Begin in Coming Weeks

Construction crews are expected to begin moving trees in the coming weeks in preparation for new Sam's Club, city officials said.

Larry Tucker, the city's manager of marketing and business development, said Sam's Club is still on pace to open this fall—likely in October. The membership-only retail giant will build its 17th Missouri location behind and across the street from .

THF Realty successfully applied for a Community Improvement District (CID) to help finance the Sam’s Club and Sam’s Club gas station. An estimated $7 million would be collected by creating a CID surrounding the Sam's Club lot. Within the CID, the city may allocate one-half cent sales tax to the developer for up to 27 years. 

An official ribbon cutting to commemorate crews breaking ground will be held Feb. 28, Mayor Paul Lambit said.
