St. Louis is Sixth Best for Celebrating St. Patrick's Day

St. Louis has a parade and run, and Wentzville has Maggie Malone's all-day party to celebrate the wearing of the green Saturday.

St. Louis may only be 8.6 percent Irish, but when St. Patrick’s Day comes around, that number seems to shoot up to 100 percent.

Shindigz, a party supply website, named St. Louis the No. 6 place in the country to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day based on our Michelob 5 Mile Run, which will host more than 13,000 runners this year, as well as the St. Patty’s Day parade with balloons, Irish dancers, horses and floats.

Wentzville also has , an Irish restaurant and bar that promises some St. Paddy's Day fun, including an all-day party that starts at 6:30 a.m. with an Irish breakfast buffet and corned beef and cabbage after breakfast.

Live music starts at 2 to 6:30 p.m. with MaryBeth Johnson and Brett Stewart, and Contagious from 9 to close.

About 11 percent of the United States identifies as Irish, according the census data quoted in a Shindigz press release. St. Louis’ Irish population is slightly lower than the average at 8.6 percent, according to city-data.com.
