The “It’s a Wrap” Holiday Block Party presented by Cox has become a holiday favorite for volunteers of all ages, who make holiday cards and sort, wrap, and create personalized gifts for young people experiencing homelessness throughout our community. The outdoor event includes sweet treats, hot chocolate, an ugly sweater contest, and other festivities.
Participants must register in advance at www.nphy.org/holidaygiving. The event fills up within days every year. One-hour shifts are available. Registration opens Dec. 1 and closes when all the volunteer shifts are filled.
The event is the culmination of Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth's 10th Annual Holiday Giving Campaign that takes play Nov. 24 through Dec. 19. There are several ways that individuals, families, churches, companies and other groups can get involved to make the initiative a success for vulnerable youth in Southern Nevada through volunteerism (giftwrapping, sorting, delivery), gift and monetary donations, and sponsorships.
