5 Things: Can New Hampshire Profit From a Casino?

1. Jackpot? The New Hampshire Center for Public Policy Studies released their analysis of the impact of building a new casino in New Hampshire. They claim that the state would not benefit at all revenue-wise once all of the social and regulatory costs are factored in.
2. To the market. Only three more markets left this season for the Milford Winter Farmer’s Market. Go shopping this Saturday from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Town Hall Auditorium. You know you want some great local products from local vendors.

3. Dirty disease. Smut is the name of certain diseases of plants. Smut affects both cultivated and wild plants, but it is particularly harmful to cereal grains, such as barley, corn, oats, rice, and wheat.
4. Congrats! The following local residents were among 1,337 students from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) named to the university's Dean's List for academic excellence for the fall 2012 semester. Grant Raymond of Amherst, is a junior majoring in mechanical engineering. Nicholas Kepka Calvetti of Amherst, is a sophomore majoring in management Engineering.
