5 Things: Local Students Host Candidate Forum Thursday
Some day somebody's gonna make you want to turn around and say Patch.

1. Weather report: Today will be mostly sunny with a high of 54 degrees. Tonight is looking mostly clear with an overnight low of 35 degrees. Tomorrow should be sunnier and warmer.
2. Students take on candidates. Souhegan High School is hosting a Candidate Forum on Thursday, Oct. 18 from 7 – 9 p.m. in the high school's theater. Many candidates have already pledged to attend the forum, which will be moderated by students from the school's Community Council.

3. Patch Fact: The Choctaw Indians are a tribe that originally lived in what is now Alabama and Mississippi. They hunted and raised corn and other crops.
4. Tainted drug. The Union Leader reports that four New Hampshire patients have begun treatment for fungal meningitis after receiving a tainted medication. The alleged source is a Massachusetts-based practice called PainCare LLC.

5. Congrats! Michelle Weber of Amherst was inducted into the Florida Theta chapter of Alpha Chi, an honor scholarship society, during a ceremony held Monday, October 8 at Clearwater Christian College in Clearwater, FL. In a subsequent meeting, she was also elected vice president of the chapter. Alpha Chi is a national society limited to the top 10 percent of an institution's juniors, seniors, and graduate students. The organization has 300 chapters with 11,000 members throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
