3. Patch Fact: Did you know: Fire extinguishers use baking soda to kill flames. Baking soda starts to decompose at only 158 degrees Fahrenheit (70 degrees Celsius), and when it decomposes, it releases carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide, along with the insulation of the foam, works to smother the fire.

5. Congrats! Local students received Dean's List Awards at Clearwater Christian College for scholastic achievement during the 2012 fall semester. In order to be recognized for this award, honorees are required to earn a GPA between 3.50 and 3.90 on a 4.00 scale. Felicia Weber of Amherst, is a Senior Humanities major at CCC.
