5 Things: New Hampshire Wants That Weed

Don't be fooled by the Patch that I got. I'm still Jenny from the block.

1. Get that ganja? A WMUR poll shows that 80 percent of respondents support legalized small amounts of marijuana for those with serious illnesses. Only 50 percent said that support it for recreational use.

2. Winter Carnival! The Amherst Recreation Winter Carnival is bringing out the winter fun in the Amherst village on Sunday, Feb. 17 from 1-3 p.m. Activities include ice skating, snowshoeing and a snow sculpture/snowman contest. Find out more.

3. Its electric. A galvanometer is a delicate instrument used primarily to detect and measure small electric currents. Most galvanometers operate on the principle that an electric current flowing through a wire in the presence of a magnetic field produces a force in the wire.

4. Congrats! The following local residents were named to the Fall 2012 Dean's List at Saint Michael's College: Elizabeth Callahan, daughter of Lorraine and Stephen Callahan of Amherst, a Sophomore Secondary Education major, who graduated from Souhegan High School before coming to Saint Michael's. McKenzie St. Germain, daughter of Susan Nykamp and Michael St. Germain of Amherst, a Junior Psychology and Political Science major, who graduated from Souhegan High School before coming to Saint Michael's. Students who complete a minimum of 12 credits and achieve a grade point average of at least 3.4 at the end of a semester are recognized for their scholarship by inclusion on the Dean's List.
