1. Weather Report: Today will be mostly sunny with a high of 26 degrees. Tonight will be clear with a chilly overnight low of 6 degrees. Expect more clouds and cooler temperatures tomorrow.
2. Land purchases planned. The Amherst Conservation Commission will hold a public hearing in Amherst Town Hall to take input on a proposed land purchasing project known as Grater Woods of Amherst – Plan 7702 – Parcel 6-20-1 and 6-20-3 on Monday, Jan. 7 at 6 p.m.

3. Patch Fact: When it comes to protests, the book of Guinness World Records currently lists the Feb. 15, 2003, Iraq War protest in Rome as the largest antiwar rally in history. The event drew an estimated crowd of 3 million.
4. And it begins...Today is opening day for the 2013 NH Legislature. Newly-elected governor Maggie Hassan must submit her budget to the Legislature on Feb. 15. Get ready for another season of good ol' fashioned NH politics.
