5 Things: Pancake Palooza Coming Sunday!

You light up my Patch.

1. Stack them up! The 5th Annual Team Early and Melanom Foundation of New England Pancake Palooza & Maple Syup Taste-Off is on Sunday, Feb. 17 at the Souhegan High School cafe. The event features local syrup producers, raffle and a first in the state maple syrup taste-off. Breakfast starts at 7 a.m. and the raffle begins at 10 a.m. Tickets are $5 a person Pay at the door. 2. Have a (healthy) heart. We will all be using our hearts more on Valentine's Day, but over 2,150 Americans die from heart disease every day. There are foods that you should avoid if you want to have a happy, healthy heart. Check out the full list.

3. Dead and delicious. A saprophyte is a living thing that gets its food from the remains of dead organisms. Most saprophytes are either fungi--such as mushrooms and molds--or bacteria.

4. Congrats! Andrew M. White of Milford, a senior majoring in aeronautical engineering, was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2012 semester at Clarkson University. Dean's List students must achieve a minimum 3.25 grade-point average and also carry at least 14 credit hours.
