5 Things: Sabers Head To Basketball, Hockey Playoffs

1. Go Sabers! The Souhegan boys basketball and hockey teams are preparing for their playoff games in the NHIAA this week. The boys varsity basketball will be facing off against Hanover at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, after our hockey team goes against John Stark/Hopkinton at 5:30 p.m. that day.

2. New Colors? Lawmakers have proposed making New Hampshire's state colors orange, red and yellow. A proposal to make it purple was shot down two years ago.

3. Chew on this. Gum trees produce gum or a gumlike substance. One type, the sapodilla, produces a gummy latex called chicle, which once was widely used as an ingredient in chewing gum.

4. Congrats! Jeffrey Chappell of Amherst has been named to the Plymouth State University President's List for the fall 2012 semester. To be named to the President's List, a student must achieve a grade point average of 3.7 or better for the fall 2012 semester and must have attempted at least 12 credit hours during the semester. These credit hours must be in courses that earn grade points and the student must have completed all such courses attempted.
