5 Things to Do In NH This Weekend

Life is too short NOT to be going to some of these fantastic local events.

1. Holy accordians Batman! The Accordions Now! 5th Annual Music Festival begins at the Marriot Courtyard at Nashua on Friday, Aug. 17 from 5-11 p.m. There will be a LOT of music, fun and, of cours,e accordians. They also have an outstanding lineup of performers, including Tony Lovello, Christopher Gorton, Brent Buswell, Jeremiah McLane & Annemieke Spoelstra, Dan Mackowiak, Gary Morin, Donna Maria Regis, ACCORDIONS NOW! Festival Orchestra, Sam Falcetti, and more. Bring your accordion & join the fun! Or relax, listen, & enjoy yourself at concerts, workshops, open mike, jam sessions, festive luncheon buffet, cocktail reception with entertainment, gala dinner, vendor displays of the latest instruments, more.

2. Middle Eastern fun! Join the Our Lady of the Cedars Melkite Catholic Church in Manchester for the Mahrajan: A Middle Eastern Festival all weekend from 5-10 p.m. This annual celebration of Middle Eastern cultur eincludes music and food of Lebanon, and includes specialties like lamb, beef and chicken kabobs, falafel and tabbouleh and traditional Middle Eastern pastries. DJ Kibar will entertain Friday evening and throughout the festival, and live music will be provided Saturday night and all day Sunday by Mitchell Kaltsunas and his band.

3. Juuuuust peachy! The 9th Annual New England Peach Festival will be held Saturday, August 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lull Farm on Route 13 in Milford. This truly old fashioned New England festival will feature everything peachy for you and your family to enjoy at the Festival and to take home.  The New England Peach Festival features famous homemade peach pies and peach pockets, jams (both regular and sugar-free), peach sundae sauce, peach breads and much more. Come early to get your peach pies and peach pockets as they tend to sell out early. Do some shopping and enjoy a great lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs as you sit under the tent listening to live musical entertainment from a variety of local musicians. The much anticipated lobster dinner will once again take place after the Festival with sittings at 5:00 and 6:00 pm.

4. Idols! American Idol Live! returns to the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester this summer for another hit tour to showcase this season's talented top 10 finalists. The idols will be here on Saturday, August 18 to strut their stuff. Launching the careers of many, the American Idol Live! Tour is the first chance to see your favorites in concert! American Idol Live! gives fans the unique opportunity to be up close and personal with Idol finalists Colton Dixon, DeAndre Brackensick, Elise Testone, Erika Van Pelt, Heejun Han, Hollie Cavanagh, Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips and Skylar Laine! 

5. Browse masterpieces! The Greeley Park Art Show is on for Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each year, the Nashua Area Artists' Association (NAAA) hosts this important venue for artists to display and sell their artwork. Artists from the New England area come to this landmark downtown Nashua park and set up their artist booths to display their work to thousands of visitors over the two day event. This is the LARGEST NAAA sponsored event all year and takes 6 months of preparation and planning. The show includes the adult art competition; children's art competition and announcement of the art scholarship winners. There is live music, puppetry and more.
