1. Your weather report: Today will be stormy with scattered thunderstorms making their way through the area, with a high of 82 degrees. The bad weather continues into the night with more storms and an overnight low of 79 degrees. The rain will remain during the weekend, but should clear up later on Sunday.
2. Dangerous snack? UPI reports that researchers may have found a link between Diacetyl, a flavoring used to produce the buttery flavor and aroma of microwave popcorn, may be linked to Alzheimer's. The flavoring is also used in a long list of other food items.

3. Patch Fact: Did you know: Guerilla gardeners use seed bombs to get their work done. Seed bombs are gumball-sized balls that include clay, compost, seeds and water. They're thrown into a field and left to grow.

5. Pawlenty in the house. Amherst Patch will be covering an Ice Cream & Candidates Summer Social on Saturday, where former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty will speak. The event will bring together candidates for office, local GOP committees and other political groups from around the state. The cost of the event is $20.12/individual or $40/family.
