3. Patch Fact: Sega's Dreamcast console debuted in the United States in 1999. Despite some impressive specs and good video game titles, the competition was too fierce for Sega, and the company discontinued production in 2001.

Congrats! The following Amherst residents were among 1,286 students from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) named to the university's Dean's List for academic excellence for the spring 2012 semester: James Davison, a senior majoring in chemical engineering and Grant Raymond, a sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering. The criteria for the WPI Dean's List differs from most other universities as WPI does not compute a grade point average (GPA). Instead, WPI defines the Dean's List by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.
