5 Things You Need to Know Today: Aug. 6

Patch, I was born this way.

1. Your weather report: Today will bring scattered storms with a high of 86 degrees. Tonight will be drier and partly cloudy, with an overnight low of 63 degrees. Tomorrow should be mostly sunny.

2. EBT card abuse. WMUR looked into questionable purchases made with New Hampshire EBT cards. These Electronic benefits transfer cards allow disabled and low-income people to buy necessities, but recent withdrawals have included a music festival on St. Patrick's Day, an arcade ATM, and $450 at an ATM inside a self-described smoke shop and adult store.

3. Patch Fact: Bigfoot is a humanlike creature said to live in the Pacific Northwest. Bigfoot has been reported most often in the mountains of California, Oregon, and Washington, and of British Columbia in Canada.

4. Low flow. The Nashua Telegraph reports that the Souhegan River's flow has continued to diminish the past few weeks. The good news: the upper part of the river has continued pass E. Coli readings.
