A Simple 'Hi There!' is All it Takes
Talking to strangers is a good thing...when you are older.

So I was working in my favorite spot today, A&E Cafe, and had something happen that is usually out of the ordinary in this modern world.
A stranger came over to start a conversation.
This mystical experience only happens once in a while in our untrustworthy world, but whenever it does it always puts a smile on my face. A person that I don't know actually taking a chance and interacting with another human? Absurd!

He came over and complimented my stylish green glasses, which gave me a bonus ego boost. His kids were with him and we had a nice conversation about the job of children in our lives. Then they left and I proceeded to get back to the daily news grind.
Simple as that. Nothing crazy or extraordinary to see here. Yet a simple conversation with a stranger is a treasure that is rarer than it should be.

We tend to surround ourselves with the familair and hide within a bubble or normalcy. The outside world can be a scary place with plenty of things to be afraid of or avoid for our own good. Yet, there are good, interesting people out there just waiting to open up to a stranger.
I really appreciated that guy taking a chance, I mean, I could have just scowled at him and slapped my headphones on without a response. Lucky for him, I spend my days out and about hoping for a fun conversation.
Cheers to that nameless stranger who added an extra bit of joy to an already sunny day. I'll think of you when I buy my next pair of glasses.
