Adorable Pets Invade The Library!
The Amherst Town Library held their 1st Annual Pet Show on Wednesday.
A group of loveable pets were on display at the first-ever pet show at the Amherst Town Library on Wednesday.
Dogs, rabbits, fish, gerbils and even a snake were all present to strut their stuff and prove that they are the best pets around. Of course, everybody was a winner at this show.
Head of Children's Services Sarah Hydorn said the library wanted to do another animal event like the petting zoo last year, and thought a pet show would be a great opportunity for children. Each animal wins an award in categories ranging from cutest pet to curliest tail.

"The kids are so excited to do it," said Hydorn.
Megan and her daughter Shanon Daley brought their six-year-old dog Lucy, who apparently has the "longest tongue they have ever seen" on a dog.

He also loves people, sprinklers and is as loyal as a dog should be.
"She is nice and very, very soft," said Shanon Daley. "She is my best friend."
Maya Vaccaro brought her red snake Tidbits to share with the other children. She said he is a bit "squirmy," but he makes for a great pet.
"He is not too much trouble," she said. "You just have to remember to feed him because he doesn't make too much noise."
Much to the relief of Scuppers the fish, who relaxed at the bottom of his bowl that day, no cats were in the show this week.
