Al Capone Medical Documents Reveal Fragile Mental State

RR Auction in Amherst is offering the infamous mobster's medical notes, a handwritten letter and photos.

A collection of historical items from Al Capone show another dark side of the Chicago gangster.

RR Auction is offering a file of medical records, a letter from Capone to one of his doctors, an official copy of his death certificate and photographs of him alive and dead in their "Old West, Gangsters and Mobsters" auction."

The documents show the mental and emotional deficiency of the gangster as he slid deeper into insanity.

The collection, came from the family of the late Dr. Kenneth Phillips of Miami, who was Capone's primary physician. It is being sold as a single collection at a starting bid of $10,000. 

RR Auction vice president Bobby Livingston expects the collection to sell for over  $50,000.
