There are several contested races on the Amherst ballot for the Sept. 11 primary.
Republican voters will be asked to decide primary contests for governor, Congress, state representative and more. On the Democratic side of the ballot, the only contested races are for governor and country attorney. Here's a quick rundown of the contested primary races.

Contested Republican races:
- , and are all vying for the Republican nomination for governor.
- Incumbents Robert Rowe, Stephen Stepanek and Peter Hansen are being challenged by Reed Panasiti for the state representative seats.
- Senate District 11 will be seeing incumbent Peter Bragdon up against Dan Dwyer.
- Republicans Chris Christensen is looking to take down incumbent Carol H. Holden for country commissioner.
- The register of deeds position has Pamela Coughlin competing against Mary Ann Crowell.
- District 2 has incumbent Congressman Charlie Bass defending his position from Dennis Lamare, Gerald Beloin, Will Dean and Miroslaw Dziedzic.
- Hillsborough County Republican sheriff has candidate Frank Szabo facing James Hardy.

The polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. - 8 p.m. at Souhegan High School for the State Primary Election.
