Bears Make Appearance Near Village Green

The bear sightings around town continue to roll in, including a report from Sunday that a trio of bears was spotted roaming the Village. 

John Truslow said "On Sunday, Sept. 29 at 4:30 pm, my daughter and I (along with other Amherst residents) saw a mother bear and her two babies walk south along Middle Street, past the Amherst Village Green, and into the field where the ice skating rink exists in winter, taking shelter near the thicket at the back of the field."

One of the benefits of living in rural communities such as Amherst, is the opportunity to see wildlife roaming among us. 

As always, it is important to proceed with caution around wildlife and it's best to try to avoid actually attracting bears to your yard. Take these steps to keep your pets and family safe from unwanted bears.
