Bears Still Roaming About In Search of Food
The latest bear sightings around Amherst on an interactive map.

As we continue to march toward (I don't even want to say it) winter, the bears in the area are continuing to seek out easy food sources to bulk up for hibernation.
Sightings are still regularly being made, and shared with Amherst Patch, including the four that came in since our last update on Oct. 2, a couple days after a trio of bears was spotted wandering through the center of town.
One of the benefits of living in rural communities such as Amherst, is the opportunity to see wildlife roaming among us.
As always, it is important to proceed with caution around wildlife and it's best to try to avoid actually attracting bears to your yard. Take these steps to keep your pets and family safe from unwanted bears.
