Candidates from all parties running in the Souhegan School District (Amherst/Mont Vernon) for the following offices are being invited to attend:
- NH Gubernatorial Candidates
- NH Executive Council – District 5
- NH Senate District 9 & 11
- NH House Districts Hillsborough 5, 22, 40 & 41
The forum will be conducted by students on Community Council. The Community Council believes that the Candidate Forum is a great way to involve students directly in the political process as well as to provide a mechanism for the voters of Amherst, Mont Vernon, and surrounding towns to become better acquainted with the candidates and the issues.

As you may or may not know, Community Council is the governing body of school affairs at Souhegan High School. It operates with the authorization of the School Board as a link between students, faculty, administration, school board, and the community.
Although the majority of Council is made up of students (30), 17 members are adults with 10 being from the faculty or staff, one Dean of Students, 5 members of the communities of Amherst and Mont Vernon, and one school board member.
The Council meets weekly to discuss issues or activities that come under its purview.
The forum will be set up so that each candidate will be given a brief opportunity to make introductory remarks and then answer questions selected by the student moderators. The audience will be able to ask questions of candidates afterwards in the cafeteria where refreshments will be served and the candidates will be available for conversation and distribution of campaign materials.
Candidates running for other federal, state or county offices not specified above are welcome to attend as audience members and may distribute campaign materials in the cafeteria after the forum is over.
