The world is a dangerous place, but we have it a little better here in New Hampshire.

Our state rates among one of the safest states in America, with Amherst sitting comfortably at the bottom of violent crime statistics.

Even so, it is hard not to feel concerned when reading news of gun violence, terrifying burglaries and unsolved murders. Having access to so much information means that we know a lot more about the worst of the worst in our society.

The fear can strike home and, although it is rare, violent crime does happen in our quiet corner of New Hampshire.
