Donors Helping Brinestone Recover After Devastating Burglary

Hundreds of dollars have been raised so far to cover the huge loss.

A local business is seeing a wave of support after a burglar took thousands of dollars in products on Tuesday.

Brinestone, an Apple Specialist store located in Lowe's Plaza off of Route 101A in Amherst, had over $20,000 in items stolen during a break-in early that morning.

Owner Matt Bernard, an Iraq War veteran with two Purple Hearts, was devastated by the crime, but luckily no customer repair units were stolen during the burglary.

The huge amount stolen is a huge blow to the electronics business, and a fund has been establishes to help in their time of need. A GoFundMe page has been created to assist Brinestone in the wake of this tragic crime.

A funding goal of $10,000 has been set and, as of Wednesday afternoon, donors have already donated $760 to the cause. Contributions to the veteran-owned business have ranged from $10 to $100 so far.

"There will be many things not covered by insurance. Your support in this time of need would be greatly appreciated!" said Bernard on the Brinestone Facebook page.

Amherst Police are currently investigating the break-in, and anyone with information related to this incident is being asked to contact the Amherst Police Department at 673-4900.
