Father, Son Face Felony Charges For Sexual Assault

James and Jeff Hillsgrove are facing multiple counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault.

AMHERST, NH -- A local man and his son face the same charges for sex crimes against children committed during separate time periods.

James Hillsgrove, 65 of 41 Stearns Road, Amherst was arrested on Thursday on felony charges of aggravated felonious sexual assault, according to a press release from Amherst Police.

The arrest stems from an investigation into allegations of sexual assault which were recently brought to the attention of police.

Three female victims came forward to report that they had been assaulted on multiple occasions by Hillsgrove during the summer of 1990. The victims were between 8 and 12-years-old at the time of assaults and are known to Hillsgrove, but are of no relation.

His son, Jeff Hillsgrove, 34, of Amherst was recently . He was arrested in July, 2011 for the crimes, which were allegedly committed on female victims who were between 6 and 11 during the years 2008-11.

James Hillsgrove was released on $10,000 personal recognizance bail pending an Aug. 30 arraignment in the Milford District Court. He is currently charged with 23 felony counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault. Police are still investigating.

The father and son face up to 30 years in state prison for some of the most serious charges.
