
Fun on the Farm. Jaunt off to Mont Vernon on Saturday for a free day of family fun at Lamson Farm. Enjoy hayrides, farm animals, children's games, tractors and antique vehicles, farm-related exhibits, blacksmithing demonstrations and music by Fred Sprague. Take a tethered hot air balloon ride ($10 for adults, $5 for kids) and enjoy a chicken barbecue ($10 for adults, $6 for kids) And bid on silent auction items and win a prize. Lamson Farm Day is held rain or shine from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Balloon rides are from 2-4 p.m.
Rummage Sale. The Congregational Church will hold a rummage sale this weekend on Sept. 27 and 28 from 5-7:30 p.m. and 9 a.m.-noon, on the respective day. Items in the sale include clothing, linens, children's wear, jewelry, toys and games and household items. Stop by and see what treasures you turn up, priced right at just $5 a bag.

Postage price hike? The United States Postal Service, facing the possibility of losing $6 billion this year, is considering a price hike of first-class stamps from 46 cents to 49 cents, according to a story in the Los Angeles Times. It's expected the price increase, the largest one-time increase since 2002, would generate $2 billion more in revenue. If the price increase goes through, it would go into effect in January.
