Local Ornament Contest Will Get Supplies To Our Troops
Send in your best creation to Needlepoint Epiphany in Amherst.
Holiday ornaments are as much an expression of artistry and creativity as a celebration of the holiday season.
That's what Amherst business Needlepoint Epiphany wants to showcase in their first annual holiday ornament contest and display. At the same time, viewers may vote for their favorite ornament with a contribution to the Moore Mart, the local non-profit that provides overseas military members a taste of home.
"With eight categories and a medium of the artist's choice, we believe anyone can create an ornament that expresses his or her view of the season," said Susan Usseglio, Needlepoint Epiphany co-owner.

The idea originated in a weekly gathering of stitchers who lamented the fact that too few of the holiday decorations were handmade.
Categories are traditional, whimsy, Victorian, primitive, modern, novelty, age 10 and under, and age 11-16. Ribbons will be given for first and second place as well as Best in Show as voted by visitors who view the display, Nov. 21- Dec. 29.
