NOTICE: CodeRED System Test Coming Wednesday

Amherst and Mont Vernon can expect test calls around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20.

The towns of Amherst and Mont Vernon will be utilizing the CodeRED Emergency Notification System on Wednesday, Feb. 20 to call the entire communities of both towns for the purpose of maintenance and upgrade of the CodeRED system. 

The calls will begin at approximately 2 p.m., and will continue until the entire database has been attempted.

The message that is being delivered directs recipients to their respective town website to add additional contact numbers, and it also asks that recipients spread the word by mentioning the system to family, friends and neighbors.

Emergency officials suggest that “all individuals and businesses should take time to visit their town website and add additional contact information to include cellular phones and other non-traditional phones, as well as email and text addresses. If your contact information is not in the database you will not receive a call when an urgent message is sent.

In particular, businesses should register, as well as individuals who have unlisted numbers, who have changed their phone number recently and those who use cellular phones exclusively or have VoIP (such as Vonage) as their primary numbers.

The residents and businesses of Amherst may log onto the Amherst town website at www.amherst.gob and follow the CodeRED link on the home page. Residents of Mont Vernon may do the same via the CodeRED link found on their town website at www.montvernonnh.us.

Those Amherst residents without internet access may call 567-4900 (24/7) and provide a physical street address and a primary phone number. Additional phone numbers, email and text messages may also be entered. Residents of Mont Vernon may do the same at 673-5610 (24/7).
